On top of that, car and bike manufacturers throughout the world are scrambling to roll out electric and hybrid alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This change of tact in both the public and private sectors shows which way the wind is blowing. At <a href=\"https:\/\/damon.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Damon<\/a>, we believe that electric motorcycles and other electric vehicles don\u2019t only lead us into a greener future, they also have immediate positive impacts on us and the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, while these changes are paving the way for a brighter tomorrow, how are clean vehicles helping save the world in the here and now? Let\u2019s take a look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Clean Vehicles Are Available?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before we dive into the ways in which electric vehicles are changing the world, let\u2019s explore the three different categories of electric vehicles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Battery Electric Vehicles<\/strong> &#8211; These are powered by electricity stored in a battery pack (e.g. a <a href=\"https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/which-hypersport-is-right-for-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Damon Hypersport<\/a>).<\/li><li><strong>Hybrids &#8211;<\/strong> These combine a gas or diesel engine with an electric motor and rechargeable battery.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Fuel Cell Vehicles &#8211;<\/strong> These split electrics from hydrogen molecules to produce electricity to run the motor.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the purpose of this article, we\u2019re going to focus on Battery Electric Vehicles. This is because they are cleaner than Hybrids and more readily available than Fuel Cell Vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Battery electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the last decade or so and are no longer just limited to cars. There are now fully-electric buses, trucks, and big-rig tractor-trailers. However, if you prefer two wheels, there are a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/futuristic-electric-motorcycles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">futuristic electric motorcycles<\/a> shaking up the motorcycle industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Damon-HyperSport-Family.jpg\" alt=\"Damon HyperSport Premier, HS, SX and SE\" class=\"wp-image-2545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Damon-HyperSport-Family.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Damon-HyperSport-Family-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/damon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Damon-HyperSport-Family-768x480.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><em>Damon HyperSport Family<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electric Vehicles Help Us Meet the Targets Needed to Tackle Global Warming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The number one source of climate pollution in the USA is transportation &#8211; and by a large majority.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned before, a number of countries are trying to reverse the damage done to the environment by CO2 emissions by banning the sale of gas-powered vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This may have been in reaction to a particularly damning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/site\/assets\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/06\/SR15_Full_Report_Low_Res.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPCC report from the UN<\/a> that stated, \u201c&#8230;To prevent worldwide temperatures increasing by 1.5\u00b0 C by 2100, we need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/12-years-to-stop-climate-change.html#:~:text=climate%20science%20body%20released%20Oct,to%20net%20zero%20by%202050.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cut our CO2 emissions by 45% by 2030<\/a> and hit a net zero by 2050.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gas or diesel transportation contribute to this scary projected forecast through their direct emissions. These are emitted through exhaust pipes, which are produced through evaporation for the fuel system and during refueling. However, as fully-electric vehicles run off electricity stored in a battery pack, they don\u2019t release any direct CO2 emissions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To save the planet, the move toward EV needs to happen as soon as possible. At this moment, public entities are making their fleets electric, and local and federal governments are offering financial incentives for electric vehicle buyers. What can you do to help? Life cycle emissions refer to all the emissions related to fuel and vehicle production, processing, distribution, use, and recycling\/disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a study carried out in the Nature Sustainability journal revealed these claims to be bogus. The researchers reveal that average \u201clifetime\u201c emissions from electric cars are up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/science-environment-51977625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">70% lower than petrol cars in countries<\/a> like Sweden and France, where most electricity comes from renewable and clean sources. Moreover, these statistics are likely to look more favorable throughout the world as nations shift towards clean electricity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other claim often made by EV skeptics is that the lithium-ion batteries used to power electric vehicles have a damaging long-term impact on the environment.
